Barbara Dunsmoor

I began as a traditional quilter many years ago, but over the years, I felt the need to expand my horizons. I realized that traditional patters no longer fulfilled me. I began to explore art quilting and have discovered joy in abstraction, in investigating color and texture. I have expanded into fabric painting, dyeing, thread play, and embellishing. I learn something new every day. I realize there are no real boundaries, except in my own mind, my own creative ability. I find inspiraqtion in the world around me. A piece may be born from a certain color, piece of fabric, or a random picture in my head. Often the finished product is different from the original concept. I work best when I allow my work to grow organicallyi from my ideas. I create each piece because I believe the next one will be better or the idea in my head won't let me rest until I bring it to life. bdunsmoor@mcn.org
